How to Live, Think, and Lead With Brilliance!

There are multiple facets to Executive Brilliance that allow transformational leaders to Live, Think and Lead with brilliance. The following “to do” list will help you achieve that goal. Work on these activities each day and watch how your inner brilliance can positively influence those around you:

How to Live, Think, and Lead With Brilliance!

1. Lead by example by continuing and improving your own skills and knowledge: Lifelong learning is a natural and essential part of the brilliance process. Winston Churchill said, “The sad thing about experience is it can be wasted on a person.” Learn, grow, shine brighter!

2. Develop individuals on your team: Strong leaders hire highly competent people. A leader’s success is determined by the success of the people on his or her team. Develop your high potentials into high performers and watch collaboration soar.

3. Find that quiet place within that helps you shape your outer circumstances: The most life-enhancing actions you can do each day are simple things that no one sees. Try taking 3 deep breaths 3 times a day; have a time each day to quietly give attention to your intention; or offer a random act of kindness.

4. Serve! Inspiring leaders are known by making a difference, not just by making money. They seek to lift the spirit and performance of others through their gifts and time. Their mission extends beyond the workplace and into community involvement. Find creative new ways to better serve the world, your family, or your employees.

5. Check your diet: Is it healthy? Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Increase your discipline for getting proper nutrition and rest, both essential for total health in body and mind. Numerous research articles reveal a lack of sleep decreases performance and increases errors. Type A Executives can underestimate the value of food and rest. Drop the sugar and go to sleep early, then feel your energy build!

6. Build a Personal Board of Directors: This board should be composed of people who nourish you and support your goals. With all the electronic communication – email, texting, facebooking, twittering – we can feel more disconnected than ever before. Good relationships are the main component present in people who report higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction. Relationships feed the spirit and support growth.

7. Silence the static noise around you and go within: Develop a daily practice of quieting your mind. Develop inner resources that help you deal with outer circumstances. Take a walk, read a book, take a nap, practice meditation. Do something that is NOT work related. The time away from the hustle and bustle of work will make you even more effective when you return.

8. Learn to say “No” and practice saying “No” to time-eater tasks you could delegate: Listen to your inner feelings. Do you say yes when you really want to say no? Go ahead! It’s healthy to say no!

9. Add play to your day! Lighten up! Fun and recreation are great stress reducers and health enhancers. Take a dance class, learn a new language, drive home a different way! Change up your lifestyle. Bored people have boring lives so change your routine and get your spark back.

10. See failures as lessons to learn and opportunities to grow: Most successful people have five to ten failures before they succeed. Follow your hunches. Everyone thought Ted Turner was nuts to think people would want to watch news 24 hours a day. Yeah, right!

11. Be impeccable in word and deed: Integrity is a non-negotiable for leaders who inspire others to “be” and do their best. Authentic success exists within and is reflected without by being who you say you are. This type of success builds trust and engenders loyalty.

12. Be accountable to yourself: Find a quiet place and take a personal inventory. Multi-Taskers can actually be Multi-Slackers! Reprioritize what really matters.

Journal every day for one week to look within and see what you feel is missing and what you want to create next. Be honest about your own personal needs. Do you need more support? Do you have a confidante? It’s time for personal honesty! It’s time to make a change. And it’s definitely time for coaching one-on-one!
