Leadership and Behavior

Leadership and Behavior

There are few thoughts that influence me most:

How much you can learn from yourself

The Leadership as it is defined “the process of influencing oneself” come from us. To become a good leader we must lead ourselves effectively. As described in the book if we practice the self-leadership tools and techniques we can make ourselves satisfied and create a healthy environment around us.

It is important to develop a good understanding of our values. Our values help us in determining and motivating our behavior. If we don’t understand our values, we won’t understand how to orient ourselves in a direction that is likely to be satisfying. The second important aspect is how we behave. Our behavior leads to EXCELLENCE. Excellence comes when we reach inside ourselves to do something bigger than ourselves and convince ourselves that we, will not be denied. By doing so, we also do not deny the world of our own personal best. To reach excellence we must first be a leader of good character.

The question that we should ask ourselves, are we reaching inside to tap into our potential to give the world our best. Are we passionate to our EXCELLENCE?

Personal mastery teaches us not to lower our vision and teaches us to choose.

The process of influencing oneself leads to how we think. In order to know ourselves, we have to understand, our “be” (what we want to be), know (What we know about yourself), and do (What we do to get it), attributes.

Working on self-improvement means continually strengthening our attributes, can be accomplish through self-study, formal training and interacting with others.

How do we choose to think about what we experience?

Are we Optimistic or Pessimistic? Thinking positive or negative

By taking the optimistic approach in our leadership behavior, the world would look more positive and we may respond more to the opportunities of life rather than to its constraints. The positive thinking helps us to control our self by working hard to reach the goal. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Among the people who accept it, not many know how to use it effectively to get results.

The benefits of a positive attitude:

* helps achieving goals and attaining success

* Success achieved faster and more easily

* More happiness and energy

* Greater inner power and strength

* The ability to inspire and motivate yourself and others

Purpose of Life

To have positive attitude we must have purpose of our life or goal of life. It needs lot of self-analysis to understand what we need in life.

I prefer to a goal-oriented life that is full of challenge, stimulation and excitement. I think every human being’s life should have a purpose, a meaning, a vision and a motivation. Life is unlimited. Vision can be enlarged and extended again and again. A person’s potential can never reach its maximum end.

As Harvey McKay said, “If you don’t have destination, you’ll never get there”. That being said, if we do not have clear purpose of our life then we will never achieve anything. Moreover, if we know our purpose of life and have passion to get it, no one can stop us to achieve our goal. In the direction to achieve our ultimate goal, we have to set many short-term objectives. These self-set goals should be consistent with the longer-term objective. To get anything done we need to take first step, and for me it is important to be well educated so that I can go forward and fulfill my and my families dream.

Once we have skills to learn from oneself and others behavior, keep positive attitude in life and have clear purpose of life, we may become good leaders.

To be a good and effective leader we must understand our behavior that leads to inspire and influence other people. We should set some good examples.

Good leaders are made not born. If we have the desire and willpower, we can become an effective leader. Good leadership skills develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. To inspire our colleagues and subordinates into higher levels of teamwork, there are certain things we must, know, and, do. These do not come naturally, but you acquire through continuous work and study.

Good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective. Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership attributes, such as beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge, and skills. Thus, values and beliefs are the internal forces that guide us. In turn, knowledge of our surroundings directly influences our beliefs and values. Values help to determine how we will act as they help us to weigh the importance of various alternatives. They drive all organizational and individual efforts. An organization’s values tend to take the shape of its leader’s values.
