Commercial liability insurance is a used to protect businesses in the event that they get sued. Some main examples of a time that this type of liability insurance would be used could be any of the following.
As the owner of an apartment complex, the sidewalks were not properly shoveled and no ice melt was used. If one of your tenants slips and falls, they will more than likely sue the apartment complex.
It doesn’t just have to be an apartment complex this could happen at. It could be right outside the store front of your small shop as well.
As the owner of a popular internet company one of your star sales people goes over to a client’s business site. While they are there your employee spills a cup of coffee in the server room on top of an expensive router. The router shorts out and is useless. You could use your commercial liability insurance to cover this.
Another example would be if you rent or lease your office space. While you are renting the space one of your employees puts a lit cigarette in the garbage can causing the entire office building to burn down. If this happened your commercial liability insurance would protect you.
It is always smart to talk to a qualified insurance agent before purchasing insurance. Make sure that you understand and are comfortable with your policy before you sign anything. Always read a new policy in it’s entirety. This will save you a lot of money in the event of a lawsuit.
